Most people do not build financial security through one big decision. It usually comes from a series of sensible choices made consistently over time. Investing early can be one of those choices.

Mutual funds pool money from investors and invest it according to a stated objective. Depending on the scheme, a portfolio may hold shares, bonds or a combination of assets. The right choice depends on your goals, investment horizon and ability to tolerate losses.

WHY TIME MATTERS

Starting early gives your money more time to potentially benefit from compounding. When investment returns remain invested, future returns can build on earlier gains. Actual results depend on market performance, fees, taxes and the investments selected.

For example, investing ₹5,000 every month for 20 years means contributing ₹12 lakh in total. At a hypothetical annualised return of 10%, compounded monthly, the investment could grow to approximately ₹38 lakh before fees and taxes. This is an illustration only, not a promised or expected return.

THE ROLE OF AN SIP

A Systematic Investment Plan allows you to invest a fixed amount at regular intervals. For salaried individuals, it can make investing easier to organise alongside monthly expenses. Regular investing can spread purchases across different market levels, but it does not prevent losses or guarantee profits.

CHOOSE A FUND FOR YOUR GOAL

Equity funds generally carry higher market risk and may be considered for suitable long-term goals. Debt funds have interest-rate and credit risks, while hybrid funds combine asset classes. Index funds aim to track a selected index.

Before investing, review the scheme's objective, riskometer, costs, portfolio and performance over different market conditions. Do not choose a fund solely because it recently delivered a high return.

At Prosperis Financial Advisory, we believe the conversation should start with your goals, not a product. A structured review can help you understand your options and make informed investment decisions.

Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks. Read all scheme-related documents carefully. Returns are not guaranteed, and past performance does not predict future results.
